This paper has the aim of creating and evaluating the applicability of a guide of investigative practical classes about the theme water movement in plants with high school students. The activities of the guide aim at the development of the elements present in the teaching method by research in the content of Botany applied in High School. The teaching of Botany related to the water process is a very diversified theme for being a complementary subject that explains several physico-chemical reactions in plants, what signals to be a promising biology content to apply the methodology of teaching by research, seeking, in this way, to overcome some difficulties in the teaching-learning process that some authors have been exposing on the content of Botany, such as: assimilation of concepts, classes with little stimulating and students with disdain with the discipline. The Guide to practical investigative classes was applied in a 2nd class of the year of the Federal Institute of Mato Grosso Campus Avançado de Diamantino-MT. The data were collected by means of questionnaires that were prepared with open, closed questions and multiple choices, which allows demonstrating the applicability and effectiveness of the educational product by the students' perception. The results indicate that the Guide to Investigative Practices is an effective teaching tool in the teaching of Botany, as it allows teachers to work with students to analyze everyday situations, understand problems and challenges.
