Abstract

The article addresses the need for efficient solutions in water management for agriculture, considering the waste and excessive use of non-renewable resources in conventional irrigation systems. The identified problem lies in the limitations of current systems, which often operate with fixed schedules, resulting in inadequate water applications that compromise sustainability and agricultural productivity. The proposed solution involves the development of an automated irrigation system prototype based on a ProportionalIntegral-Derivative (PID) controller, which dynamically adjusts water flow according to real-time monitoring of soil moisture levels. The tests demonstrated that the prototype accurately and efficiently reaches moisture setpoints, reducing water consumption and improving conditions for crop development. These results validate the feasibility of implementing smart technologies to enhance water management in agriculture, delivering positive economic and environmental impacts.
